I wasn't always built like this.
I was a kid living for myself. I had a D1 scholarship and I threw it sideways. Got arrested. Twice. Every door I needed was already open, and I was busy slamming them shut. I had the talent. I didn't have the man to back it up.
What turned it around wasn't a pep talk. It was getting put in a position where I had to look hard at who I'd become. I started doing community service at a church, and somewhere in that I decided I didn't want to be that guy anymore. I gave my life to Christ. I got baptized. And I started living for something bigger than my own ego.
The baseball came after that. Not before.
The discipline that got me to the MLB is the same discipline that got my life back. Same engine. That's why I can teach it to you straight. I'm not handing you theory I picked up at a seminar. I'm handing you the exact thing that pulled me out of a hole and put me in a big league uniform for six years.
You don't have to share my faith for this to work on you. But you should know it's the foundation under everything I teach. Take what you need. The work works either way.
